March 2012
Nav Analytics Inc. has begun a study for USMEF to determine the value of exporting to different countries based on the optimum value. The study will show the value impact on a carcass of exporting currently traded sub-primals to specific countries. The study is expected to conclude in April with USMEF releasing the results at a later date.
August 2011
Nav Analytics Inc. has recently completed a study for a packer that proves the efficacy of the OptiCarcass system in a real life packing operation. A total potential gain in value of $160 per head was found. The results of this study have further validated the potential value gain found by the study conducted at Colorado State University using OptiCarcass. OptiCarcass was also able to help identify pricing and yield discrepancies, giving added benefit and value to a company that is using OptiCarcass.
May 2011
The Price Indifference Reporting Module has
now been added to the OptiCarcass system.
Price indifference reporting gives a packer
the ability to find the price indifference
point between different subprimals. This
allows sales staff to determine how much of
a discount they can take on certain products
and still be making more than the next most
valuable subprimal that could be sold.
February 2011
Trent Loos of Loos Tales interviewed Nav
Analytics President, Rick Jimmink, on the
importance of carcass value optimization to
the beef industry at that 2011 NCBA
Convention. You can hear the entire
interview
here.
November 2010
Nav Analytics has completed work on the
Carcass Value Cattle Buying module of the
OptiCarcass system. Carcass Value Cattle
Buying gives cattle buyers the tools they
need to purchase cattle that will fit the
most valuable carcass profile.
July 2010
Nav Analytics has now added the Carcass
Value Sales Management module to the
OptiCarcass system. Carcass Value Sales
Management gives your sales people the
ability to quickly evaluate what the most
valuable subprimal would be for a specific
sale.
April 2010
OptiCarcass value optimization was featured
in the Cattle Buyer’s Weekly this month as
an example of innovation that is needed in
the beef packing industry.
November 2009
Nav Analytics has released an update to
the CSU Beef Cutout Calculator. The
Calculator now includes an Extended Value
page where the user may select specific
subprimals and then calculate the optimum
cutout strategy that incorporates those
selected subprimals.
June 2009
Nav Analytics, in conjunction with Colorado
State University, has released a live value
version of the Carcass Optimizer for use by
ranchers. This version uses USDA market
prices and can be seen on CSU’s website at
http://www.beefcutoutcalculator.colostate.edu/.
Nav Analytics is now finishing the
production version of the Carcass Optimizer
for actual carcass fabrication optimization
using data from a specific processor. The
production version will be ready for use in
fabrication facilities in August 2009.
January, 2009
Dr. Keith Belk and Nav Analytics presented
the Carcass Optimizer to the Joint Product
Enhancement Committee of the National
Cattlemen’s Beef Association at their
national meetings. The committee was
enthusiastic about the results of the study
and expressed their desire to see the
finished, working product on the Colorado
State University website. The scheduled
release date for the website is June of
2009.
November 2008
Nav Analytics is currently working with Dr.
Keith Belk of Colorado State University to
develop a tool that will help packers and
processors breakdown their carcasses and
primals into the most profitable combination
of cuts. Nav Analytics is dedicated to
optimizing profitability for its clients and
will soon have a programmatic solution
available utilizing the results of this
study.
